There can be many causes for this problem. The most common is due to the pins inside the lock cylinder not being flat. Therefore it is “harder” for the key to be in the “right position”. The solution can be, changing the lock or re-keying the lock again.
By Re-keying this means that we change only the combination of the pins inside the lock. By doing so, you keep your old lock, and the old key would not work anymore. It is also possible to re-key two locks on the same door.
A Master Key is created when a group of locks are custom coded so each lock uses a different key. The difference is that a combination is added so one key will open all locks. In a group of locks that are Master-keyed (MK) each lock is operable by both its own individual key and the Master Key. Each individual key operates its own lock only.
